  1. OpenAI and Synopsys team up to build an AI model that designs chips like a seasoned engineer

OpenAI and Synopsys have signed a multi-year strategic partnership to build a specialized AI model for chip design called GPT-Synopsys. Synopsys makes electronic design automation (EDA) tools, the software engineers use to design computer chips and semiconductors. GPT-Synopsys combines OpenAI's AI technology with Synopsys' EDA tools. OpenAI is licensing Synopsys' EDA tools for the project.

  2. Destro AI’s secret sauce is getting robots and humans on the same page

Destro emerged from stealth with $8 million in seed funding. Its AI intelligence layer directs both robots and human workers to carry out cross-docking in Yusen Logistics operations. Built on an open-weight vision-language-action model, it uses the Vision operating system to drive robots and the Mothership operating system to coordinate people, goods and vehicles. Its pilot has expanded from 3 robots to 26, with a new 17-robot pilot launched in Southern California.

  1. Build a multi-agent music production pipeline on Amazon Bedrock AgentCore Runtime Instances

The official AWS blog demonstrates deploying a three-agent music production pipeline on Amazon Bedrock AgentCore Runtime Instances. The composition agent uses Claude Sonnet 4.6 to generate a music brief and runs ACE-Step on the instance's NVIDIA L4 to render audio. The delivery agent reads .wav files from the shared volume for measurement and DSP processing, while the compliance agent independently remeasures them and checks harmonic similarity against a music catalogue.

  2. China's AI industry closes ranks as Deepseek ships open-source software for Huawei's Ascend chips

DeepSeek and Huawei have collaborated on programming tools for Ascend chips and released them all as open source. At their core is TileLang, a language that is easier to learn than CUDA. It was originally developed by researchers at Peking University, and DeepSeek has used it for about a year. The companies have also optimised a supernode comprising 128 Ascend 950 chips, with Huawei saying it provided full support. DeepSeek argues that an independent AI chip software ecosystem first needs a general-purpose language that is easy to program and can fully exploit the hardware's performance.

  1. Making AI an asset, not an expense

HPE argues that businesses should reassess consumption-based AI pricing. When agent workflows in customer service, IT and research create sustained, predictable demand, buying AI per request may not be cheaper than building owned capacity. Deloitte’s 2026 enterprise AI report says employee AI usage rose 5% in 2025, and the share of companies with at least 40% of AI projects in production is expected to double within six months. Businesses need to calculate utilisation crossover points from actual workloads and keep owned capacity productive through adoption, governance and expanding use cases.

  2. Generate images and video with vLLM-Omni on SageMaker AI – Part 2

AWS published a tutorial deploying two endpoints from the same vLLM-Omni DLC image on SageMaker AI: a real-time endpoint running FLUX.2-klein-4B for images and an asynchronous endpoint running Wan2.1-VACE-1.3B for image-conditioned video. A text prompt first generates a PNG, which is sent with a motion prompt through Amazon S3 to the video endpoint; the resulting MP4 is retrieved from S3. The example includes a command-line workflow and an optional Streamlit interface.

  1. Hallo, Deutschland!

Mistral opened a hub in Munich with a research team focused on Physics AI and industrial AI, and plans to build one gigawatt of European computing capacity by 2030. It will work with BMW on crash simulation and engineering AI, Siemens Energy on industrial AI applications, and the Technical University of Munich (TUM) on automotive aerodynamics digital twins using wind-tunnel facilities.

  1. NarrateAI: production-ready LLM quality assurance on Amazon Bedrock

NarrateAI uses five techniques on Amazon Bedrock to achieve around 99% numerical accuracy with real-time streaming responses for over 4,000 AWS executives: adaptive pipeline orchestration, cross-account multi-model failover, real-time streaming evaluation, a composite evaluation framework and data-accuracy validation. Around 90% of queries take a single-pass fast path; only about 10% use parallel batch processing.

  1. When chat is the wrong UI

The GitHub Copilot app introduced canvas, full-stack mini-apps running inside the app without browser chrome. They communicate bidirectionally with Copilot agents and can call third-party APIs or execute code locally.

  2. Google's first Suncatcher orbital data center test launches October 1

Google's Project Suncatcher will launch its first test satellite, MVP, on 1 October to validate an orbital AI data-centre concept. Roughly refrigerator-sized, it carries four Google-designed TPU accelerators and about one kilowatt of solar power. Google integrated the chips into a satellite already built by imaging company Planet Labs to accelerate progress; the original plan was to launch two custom satellites in 2027.

  1. Rendering huge pull requests in the GitHub Copilot app

GitHub rebuilt its Copilot app's pull request view to handle rendering pressure from huge diffs and comments, testing an open-source PR with 2,200 files, over 1 million changed lines and more than 400 inline comments. It separates document height into deterministic code geometry and dynamic block geometry: code line heights are computed precisely in advance, while comments and other dynamic blocks use bounded heights and deferred measurements, with corrections anchored to the user's current position.
