  1. Google reportedly tests paying publishers for AI search results

According to The Information, Google has launched a pilot paying for publishers' content contributions to its AI search features, with around 100 publishers participating. They are paid according to contributions to AI Overviews, AI Mode and the Gemini chatbot. One early participant earned more than $1 million in a year, while another that joined a few months ago earned around $50,000–$60,000.

  2. Airbnb adds AI search, more social features

Airbnb introduced AI search in its autumn product update. Users can find properties through text or voice prompts, with the interface dynamically generating filters based on preferences: entering 'baby', for example, automatically brings up options such as cots and playgrounds. The platform also uses AI to summarise property highlights, supports comparisons of wishlisted properties, and adds social features including maps based on friends' trips and community pages. CEO Brian Chesky says this is Airbnb's first move into AI search, with rapid iteration planned over the coming months.
